How can I compost my compostable products? |
While bagasse is compostable in your backyard compost pile, most of our products, such as PLA, are compostable only in a commercial composting facility. To find a facility in Ohio, visit the Ohio EPA website, or for all of U.S.A. and Canada, the BioCycle website. For more info, read our blog on How Do I Compost My Compostables?

Commercial composting isn't available in my area, so why should I care? |
If a product is certified compostable, then you know that it is made from entirely natural plant-based materials and so it is healthier for you and for our environment. Also, commercial composting is in our near future; you can help create the market for it now! As we create demand and scale for these products, their price may go down and the transition to composting our waste will become easier.

Can I recycle PLA? |
It really depends on how your local recycler handles their plastics. They may physically sort out any plastics that are not the most commonly recycled #1s and #2s and send them to the landfill with non-recyclables. Or, they may send all their plastics on to a specialized facility. There, the PLA may be picked out by a laser sorting machine and shipped to yet another facility that does compost. Currently, PLA is marked with a #7, which is a catch-all for "other" types of plastics. Read more about PLA here. |
